Aadi Villa
Goa, India
2023 - Ongoing
The first project built by the sustainability startup Solarpunk Futures, this luxury villa is designed to challenge conventional construction methodologies and promote environmentally conscientious living without economic, qualitative, or experiential compromise. Built completely without Portland cement, the project is conceived holistically with low carbon footprint materials and integrated water, energy, and waste management systems for more efficient and effective maintenance and operations.
Nestled into a quiet residential neighborhood in the interior of Northern Goa, the house is made with a foundation of locally sourced laterite blocks, load bearing walls built of compressed stabilized earth blocks, and floor and roof structures crafted from sustainably sourced laminated timber. Inspired by vernacular architecture and Goan culture, the house opens itself to courtyards, verandas, and private gardens. At the core of the home a large double height volume overlooks the central garden containing the preexisting well, the primary water source for the house, and a swimming pool that is filtered by a carefully constructed ecosystem of productive plants.
